Every year, gamers who love football have always debated which game is a top-shelf choice for players. There are gaming communities that have always adored EA Sports' FIFA series as the yearly contender with its massive licenses and teams featured. However, there is also a hardcore community that swears allegiance to Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) franchise. Despite the overwhelming features of the FIFA franchise, the Japanese developer still remains a contender and it seems PES 2018 has dealt the first strike.

Normally, the next FIFA game is announced by EA Sports when summer comes around. Konami, on the other hand, makes their announcement a little later. That is why football video game fans were taken by surprise by the PES 2018 release date information. According to a report from iDigital Times, the developer has also revealed some of the new elements that will be featured in the latest installment. Its predecessor reportedly received acclaim for the massive improvement over its previous games. Additionally, the latest version plans to push it even further.


Sources claim that Konami plans to work on the stadium lighting effects to highlight differences between daytime matches and those held during the night. PES 2018 will also reportedly feature improved character models. The Japanese game developer also vowed to double its efforts to make the PC version of the football even better. It seems that they want all version of the new installment to appear almost the same across all platforms this time around.

According to a press release, PES 2018 will have more new elements compared to its predecessors over the past 10 years, as reported by Forbes. It appears that the gameplay engine will undergo a major overhaul as well. Konami also shared that the game's tagline for this year is "Where Legends are Made" and it will showcase a more esports-friendly mode. It is also expected to feature support for better graphics if played on the PlayStation 4 Pro just like the 2017 version.


Konami's Masami Saso described PES 2018 as "a title that finds the series at the very top of its game." He also added that "It is a game that builds on the foundations of the resurgent series and has taken on board requests from our growing fan base. The game is scheduled to launch for the PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC on Sept. 12, 2017.
